Mr. Bryan A. Coates has been President of Osisko since June 2014.
From 2007 to 2014, he was the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of OMC. Mr. Coates was responsible for all activities related to financing, financial reporting, marketing relating to the gold industry, risk management and government relations.
Mr. Coates has more than 30 years of progressive experience within the international and Canadian mining industry. Before joining Osisko, he was Chief Financial Officer of IAMGOLD Corporation (2006-2007), Cambior Inc. (2001-2006), and Compañia Minera Antamina (1998-2001).
Mr. Coates is a member of the Board of Directors of Alio Gold Inc. and of Amex Exploration Inc. Mr. Coates holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from Laurentian University, is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and obtained the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Mr. Luc Lessard is a mining engineer with more than 25 years of experience designing, building and operating mines.
He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Falco and Senior Vice President, Technical Services of Osisko.
He was previously Chief Operating Officer of the Canadian Malartic Partnership (owned jointly by Agnico and Yamana), and prior to that was the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering and Construction for OMC where he was responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of the Canadian Malartic gold mine.
During his career, Mr. Lessard has worked on 11 open pit and underground mine builds and prior to Falco, Mr. Lessard was Vice President of Engineering and Construction for IAMGOLD Corporation and General Manager, Projects for Cambior Inc. Mr. Lessard sits on the Board of Directors of Nighthawk Gold Corp., Highland Copper Company Inc. and Osisko Metals Incorporated. Since February 2016, he acts as Chief Operating Officer of Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd.
Mr. Mario Caron is a mining executive with over 40 years of experience in the mining industry in senior executive and board positions.
His experience was gained nationally and internationally in both underground and open pits operations.
From November 2011 to July 2013, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Aldridge Minerals Inc. developing a polymetallic Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposit in Turkey. Mr. Caron previously held similar positions, Chief Executive Officer and director, with Axmin Inc., a company with a gold project in Central African Republic and Tiberon Minerals Ltd., a developer of a tungsten/fluorspar mine in Vietnam.
He is chairman of Alloycorp Mining Inc., a privatized company, since August 2016 with a molybdenum deposit in British Columbia, and a Director of New Millenium Iron Corp. and Algold Resources Ltd.
Mr. Caron is a member of the Québec Order of Engineers and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Mr. Brunet has over 10 years of experience in the finance sector. He has recently been appointed as Vice President, Business Strategy of Osisko.
Prior to that, he was with the Québec Private Equity group of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, one of the largest North American institutional investors where he helped deploy $700 million in the mining sector across the province of Québec. Up to his appointment with Osisko, he was overseeing investments totaling approximately $1.5 billion and known for having structured innovative financial instruments for some of the largest mining projects in Québec. Mr. Brunet has worked closely with Osisko’s management team for the last several years and has a deep knowledge of Osisko’s portfolio of assets and accelerator companies, including Falco.
Prior to joining the Caisse, Mr. Brunet worked at PricewaterhouseCoppers LLP for the assurance group in Montréal. Mr. Brunet holds a CPA designation, an undergraduate and graduate degree in public accounting from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Ms. Paola Farnesi is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She has over 28 years of progressive experience in the financial industry.
She is currently Vice President and Treasurer of Domtar Corporation and has held several other leadership positions at Domtar Corporation since February 1994, where she was responsible for financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, as well as internal audit. Prior to February 1994, Ms. Farnesi was a senior accountant at Ernst & Young from July 1989 to February 1994.
She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Centaur Theatre Company since 2010. Ms. Farnesi holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Graduate degree in Public Accountancy from McGill University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. She is a graduate of the Director Program of the Rotman School of Business from McGill University. Ms. Farnesi is a member of the Order of Québec Chartered Professional Accountants and a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Angelina Mehta has over twenty years of experience in the fields of finance and engineering.
Prior to joining Laurentian Bank Securities Inc., she was Senior Mining Advisor with Paradigm Capital Inc. in Investment Banking, as well as Vice President of Operations for North American Nickel. Over the years, Ms. Mehta also served as Investment Manager for Sentient Asset Management Canada and held various operational positions for multiple mining companies, including Rio Tinto’s IOC. She currently serves on the board of directors of Stornoway Diamond Corporation, The Foundation of Greater Montreal, Azimut Exploration Inc. and Falco Resources. Previously, she served on the board of directors of Meridian Mining SE, Pershimco Resources Inc., and Women in Mining Canada. Ms. Mehta holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering and an MBA from McGill University, as well as a Master of Law degree from the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University.
Chantal Sorel is Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Capital at SNC-Lavalin.
Until March 1, 2019, she was responsible for the investment and asset management business capability of SNC-Lavalin, which invests capital in projects and manages the company’s multi-billion dollar portfolio of infrastructure investments.
Previously, Ms. Sorel was Senior Vice-President, Business Development, of SNC-Lavalin’s Infrastructure sector. Until late 2014, she held the position of Vice-President and Project Manager in charge of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) Glen Site project.
Chantal Sorel has a degree in architecture from Université de Montréal and a Master’s degree in Project Management from Université du Québec à Montréal. She also has a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute and completed the Director Education Program jointly offered by the Institute of Corporate Directors, the McGill Executive Institute and the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
